Vaping cartridges and topping off joints with cannabis concentrates are common ways to consume cannabis concentrates, but these methods are also not considered dabbing. These practices lack the rich, full bodied taste of terpenes, and the powerful impact of an authentically taken dab. My first dab was an intense, sweaty awakening into the world of ultra pure and potent concentrates, an experience that I'll never forget.
Vaping pre-filled distillate and live-resin cartridges are a very convenient, quick, and discreet method for on-the-go cannabis concentrate consumption. These are also a good practice ground for your growing tolerance as you progress from flower to full on dabs! Super mobile and friendly, kind of like a middle ground, but hitting vape pens doesn't capture the intensity and joys of true dab.
It's nice and easy to add a wax topper to your flower bowl, or wrap a glob snake around your joint before you burn it! These are age-old practices to enhance your flower consumption and enjoy some of the depth cannabis concentrates have to offer. Your bowls and joints will become more powerful and enjoyable using topping methods over flower and you'll enjoy more intense experiences, terpene profiles (taste), extreme potency, and longer highs.
A real dab taken from a well thought out and engineered dab rig kit will take things to a whole new level! Combining a low drag dab rig (not a bong) with a vertical joint, a pure quartz or titanium nail, a carb cap, a dab tool, and a heat source will get you off to the races in good form. In our next post we'll be going into much more depth about these dabbing tools and how to use them to take proper dabs! There is no comparison between vaping cartridges and topping joints to true dabbing from a solid dabbing kit.
